Insurance Producers must complete 24 hours of CE credits biennially.
Title agents who are also attorneys and have completed their continuing legal education (CLE) requirement need only complete 3 hours biennially.
All Pennsylvania property insurance producers must complete a one-time course related to the NFIP Flood requirement. The producer licensee will receive three hours of continuing education credits for completion of this course.
Agents wishing to sell LTC must also complete a 8-hourLTC requirement prior to selling LTC products. The LTC requirement counts towards the completion of the basic CE requirement. By the end of each consecutive renewal period, agents must complete a 4-hour "refresher" state-approved LTC course to continue selling LTC.
Agents wishing to sell flood insurance must also complete a one-time, 3 hour flood course approved for National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) training.
Continuing Education Compliance Date
Certificate renews biennially based upon initial license effective date. To avoid possible lapse in licensure, it is recommended by the state that CE be completed in SUFFICIENT time to allow for reporting, processing, and issuance of a certificate of completion.
Certificate Renewal Date
Certificate renewal date is the last day of the producers birth month, biennially.
Type of courses accepted for CE Credit
Independent self-study courses or classroom.
Carryover Requirements
A maximum of 24 hours may be carried over to the next reporting period.
Course Repetition
Credit will not be given for courses taken more than once in each biennial reporting period.
Final Exam
Self-study final exams must be monitored by a disinterested third party, who is anyone other than a relative or supervisor.
Exemptions
Producers licensed prior to January 1, 1971, who have been continuously licensed without adding additional lines of authority.
Public adjusters
Surplus Lines licensees
Insurance Producers whose only line of authority is a restricted line.
Individuals exempted by the commissioner due to hardship or good cause such as disability or medical condition.
Individuals who first obtained licenses without examination under Section 609(c) of the Fraternal Benefit Societies Code and whose appointments are limited to fraternal benefit societies.
Non-residents (except Title agents) are exempt if home state has a CE requirement.
Method to Certify Completion
Your certificate will be emailed to you once we receive your monitor form and report you for the course. The course provider reports credits earned to the CE administrator within one business days of course completion. The administrator sends confirmation of the credits and the producer's updated status to the producer. The producer keeps the original certificates of completion in their files for six years.
Nonresidents
Exempt, except Title agents. Title agents must complete Pennsylvania CE requirements, regardless of CE met in their home state.
Effective April 1, 2011, all producers licensed prior to April 1, 2011 must complete an initial 8-hour training course on long-term care products by April 1, 2012. All producers licensed on or after April 1, 2011 must complete this training prior to selling, soliciting, or negotiating such products.
After completing the initial 8-hour LTC training requirement, producers must complete a 4 hour follow-up training course every 24-month compliance period following the initial training. Non-Residents who have completed an NAIC 4-Hour course in another state will be deemed compliant with Pennsylvania's requirement.

Seminars & Classroom Courses
These courses are instructor led programs, usually in a live classroom setting, and do not require you to pass an exam to receive CE credit for the course.
You must choose one of the locations listed in the options above. Please make note of the address of the seminar you choose. You will also receive an email confirmation of your enrollment, which will include the address of the seminar. You can return here to review the address if you misplace it before the class.
All of our seminars begin at 8:30 AM and end at 4:30 PM unless otherwise noted on your confirmation notice. Please arrive at the classroom at least 10 minutes before the starting time on your confirmation notice. All students must be signed-in and seated BEFORE the official class start-time. If you arrive late, please DO NOT interrupt the class in session. You can talk to the instructor at the first break regarding the possibility of obtaining credit for the class or rescheduling for another date. Remember, these classes fill up quickly, and there is usually little or no room for agents who arrive at the last minute without registering in advance.
Cell phones must be turned off during the entire duration of the seminar. You will have time to return messages and make calls during breaks and at lunch.
During the class, you must not have any materials on your desk except the textbook or handout provided by the instructor. By law, students who are reading other materials, talking to other students, sleeping, or otherwise not participating in the learning experience are not allowed to receive CE credit!
Absolutely no recruiting or marketing for products, services, employment or any other activity is allowed at any time during the seminar - including during breaks and lunch. Students caught doing this may be asked to leave immediately and will NOT receive a refund.

After you pass your exam, you will be able to purchase CE certificates for professional designations such as CFP, CPE, etc. you will be charged $10 for each one. Optional PACE or CFP Credit
Many of our Insurance CE courses are also approved for CE credit for agents who hold professional designations such as CLU, ChFC, CFP. The type of CE credit and number of hours approved are listed above in the course description.
If you hold a professional designation you may request a certificate for courses taken and exams passed for insurance CE credit. If you pass and exam and would like to get additional credit for one of these designations, please use the link to the left: "CFP & PACE Credit".
If you do not hold a professional designation and do not need any type of CE other than for your insurance license renewal, please do not order a PACE or CFP certificate. It will not benefit you and once ordered, there are no refunds!

This course automatically includes a downloadable textbook and/or other course materials which you may print if you desire. When you are finished studying your course, the exam is taken online and it is graded immediately. In most states you can also print your own certificate of completion, if you pass. There is no additional charge if you complete your course and exam completely online.

Pennsylvania only requires that a 1 hour course be completed. All agents must take the 1 hour course before selling any LTC policies. This 8 hour course INCLUDES the 1 hour requirement for Pennsylvania, and is better if an agent in Pennsylvania wants to reciprocate the course with another state that they are licensed in.
The DRA requires DPW to provide information and technical assistance to the Insurance Department to assure that any individual who sells, solicits, or negotiates Qualified Partnership Policies receives training and demonstrates evidence of an understanding of Qualified Partnership Policies, and how such policies relate to other public and private coverage of long-term care services. Evidence of such training and understanding may be demonstrated by completion of a 1-hour training course prior to any sale, solicitation or negotiation of a Qualified Partnership Policy; by completion of an 8-hour training course (which may include the 1-hour course if prior to any sale, solicitation or negotiation of a Qualified Partnership Policy) by December 31, 2008; and by completion of a 4-hour training course every licensing cycle thereafter. Each of these training courses may be qualified as continuing education and, if so qualified, may be counted towards a producer's 24 hour continuing education requirement.
